In compliance with the Councils’ constitution and the Access to Information Rules, a Notice to the Joint Chairs of Overview and Scrutiny is required to dispense with the notice requirements relating to Key decisions.

As required under the Joint Council Contract Standing Orders in consultation with the Adur Executive Member for Resources and the Worthing Executive Leader.

Background Information:

Following the major IT outage caused by the critical failure of the production SAN on which the server environment relies, a SAN replacement project funded by the Digital Strategy Capital budget must be brought forward and delivered as soon as possible.

The existing environment is old, out of mainstream support and requires urgent replacement.

Recently 2 hardware components failed causing services and systems to be inaccessible for a prolonged period. The replacement hardware components proved difficult to source and the recovery of systems and services was a long and arduous task, thus significantly impacting on the Councils service provision.

To remove the risk of further failures the platform needs to be replaced urgently.

Digital have identified a new solution available through Dell Technologies, purchased via the Digital Work Spaces Framework that provides a modern, robust and reliable environment to host Council services.
