A report by the Director for Communities, attached as item 6.

Minutes:

Before the Committee was a report by the Director for Communities, a copy of which had been circulated to all members. The report before members proposed a review of the licensing fees for 2023/24.

The Officer delivered the report clarifying that this was the first review of fees since 2016.

The Officer addressed questions from the Members regarding some of the figures supplied. He clarified changes in the taxi licensing and taxi operator licensing procedure as well as explaining the new Animal Welfare licensing legislation. In response to members' concern over the proposed press advertising being sufficient the Officer assured the Committee that the Taxi Licensing team would, in addition,  be contacting the Taxi Operators who would in turn advise their drivers.

The recommendations were discussed and unanimously approved.

Resolved: The Committee approved the scale of licensing fees proposed within Appendix 1 to apply from 1 April 2023 and it was noted that, should representations be received following the Council placing a notice in a local newspaper setting out the changes to the vehicle and operator fees and inviting representations on those changes within 28 days, then those would be considered by the Public Health and Regulation Manager in consultation with the Chair of the Licensing Committee.
