Purpose:
To seek the approval of the Executive Members to award a tender in relation to the planned capital works scheme for the adaptation of Adur Homes properties to provide protected escape routes from all rooms.
Decision:
The Adur Executive Member for Customer Services has agreed that contracts for the works are awarded to the two highest scoring tenders from the evaluation process, D M Habens Limited and Cheesmur Building Contractors and that delegated authority be provided to the Head of Housing to enter into the contract and execute it on behalf of Adur District Council.
Reasons for the decision:
To comply with new rules relating to Inner Rooms Fire Safety.
We should be doing everything that we can to keep our tenants safe.
Alternative options considered:
Not to comply with the new rules and put tenants at risk.
