Decision:
To grant a request by the Mayor and Lady Mayoress, Cllrs Lionel and Karen Harman, working together with The Worthing Society on a project to erect a plaque on the outside of Worthing Town Hall to commemorate the work of Ellen Chapman, to use the Worthing Borough Crest in the design of the said plaque.
Reasons for the decision:
To be a visual representation of Worthing Borough’s endorsement to commemorate the life of Ellen Chapman and the achievements of women in local politics generally by including the Worthing Borough Crest on the plaque commemorating her life.
Alternative options considered:
To not approve the use of the Worthing Borough Council Crest on the proposed plaque commemorating Ellen Chapman.
