Decision:

Following a competitive tender process to appoint Gemini AMPM in the sum of £155,757.87 to carry out Phase 1 of the replacement and maintenance of defective fire dampers at Splashpoint Leisure Centre.

Reasons for the decision:

Fire dampers are a key part of a building's life safety features; they close in the event of a fire and prevent smoke spread through the ventilation system.

The fire dampers at the Splashpoint Leisure Centre have suffered corrosion and are in various states of disrepair. Replacement and repair of the fire dampers is required to maintain a safe environment for users and staff.

A specialist Consulting Engineer has been appointed to prepare a prioritised programme of works; this is the first Phase of repairs.
