Decision:
The Cabinet Members approve the award of a contract to the successful tenderer, Higham Flat Roofing Ltd to undertake the replacement roof coverings in line with the contract specification and contract sum £286,836.00 plus VAT.
WBC Cabinet Member for Resources: I approve the award of this contract and the sum.
Reasons for the decision:
The replacement roof covering will prevent the ingress of water, which has been occurring over many years. This will improve thermal insulation and leaks will no longer impact staff.
WBC Cabinet Member for Resources: Given the urgency of this work I am satisfied with the decision to defer work planned for the Commerce Way flooring to accommodate the higher than expected costs of the roofing work.
Alternative options considered:
The alternative is to continue with repairs, however this is not practical in the long term due to the age of the building and roof type.
