Decision:

The Adur Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources and the Worthing Cabinet Member for Resources note the content of this report and agree that:-

a)    The qualifying criteria for Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council respectively should be those detailed in paragraph 3.6; and

b)    The value of individual payments should be those detailed in paragraph 5.2

c)    Applications and payments should be made as detailed in paragraphs 5.4 and 5.5

d)    If additional residents are identified as meeting the qualifying criteria, payments should be made on a “first come, first served” basis utilising the small remaining budget balances detailed in paragraph 5.2.  Awards will not be made if the respective budgets have been exhausted.

Reasons for the decision:

Councillor John Turley: I agree with all the recommendations and am happy that the payments are being targeted towards residents most in need of support within a process that will enable that support to be provided speedily.

Councillor Angus Dunn: I am happy to agree recommendations set out in the report.

Alternative options considered:

Councillor John Turley: None

Councillor Angus Dunn: I do not consider there to be appropriate alternatives.
